Ouch My Face @ The Valley Studios

On Saturday after meeting Tony Mott and Dan Boud (sorry just had to drop their names again) I headed to see Ouch My Face at the Valley Studios. I have never been to that venue, from photos I have seen online I was expecting it to be very dark.

It’s a nice small venue with limited lighting set up. When I arrived it was empty which was a downer.

Before I went inside I asked the person at the front what were their photo restrictions and I was told there was none, so I had the choice to use flash and just go nuts if I wanted to. I did use flash twice I think, and just hated it, I didn’t want to annoy anyone with it and I was so close to the stage I didn’t want to blind Celeste. In the end I switched to my 50mm lens and crank up the ISO at 3200.

Most of my photos were of Celeste Potter, I did take snaps of the other two members, Steve and Ben. Celeste is really photogenic, it’s great to see a female dominate the stage.

Unfortunately my photos aren’t the greatest. After their set Celeste told me she does art and designed the artworks for An Horse shirts and their CD cover, I was like, woah that’s cool. I would have known that information if I actually read the inside liner notes, d’oh! So that was pretty cool. I got the setlist to:

  • Obscena
  • Meine Katze
  • Junk Punk
  • Firehead
  • Build a House
  • Graveyard
  • Knockouts

Their debut EP comes out in May, I can’t wait. Check out their myspace page: Ouch My Face Myspace.
